The University Grants Commission (UGC) has established strict Anti-Ragging Guidelines to ensure a safe and conducive environment for students in educational institutions across India. Ragging, defined as any form of physical, mental, or emotional harassment, is strictly prohibited under these guidelines. Institutions are mandated to implement anti-ragging committees and squads to monitor and prevent such incidents. The UGC has also introduced the Anti-Ragging Helpline (1800-180-5522) to provide immediate assistance to victims. Severe penalties, including suspension, expulsion, and legal action, are prescribed for those found guilty of ragging. Educational institutions are required to conduct awareness programs, secure affidavits from students and parents, and establish complaint mechanisms. These measures aim to foster a respectful, inclusive, and fear-free campus culture, promoting student well-being and academic excellence.
